Trezor Wallet - Quick Start & Security Guide

Your journey to self-sovereign digital asset management starts here. Follow these steps carefully.

⚠️ CRITICAL SECURITY WARNING: Never share your Recovery Seed (12/24 words) with anyone, online or offline. Do not store it digitally. Your seed is the master key to your funds.

Phase 1: Initial Setup (The Unboxing)

1

Verify Package Integrity

Ensure the packaging is sealed with tamper-evident holograms and hasn't been opened or damaged. Only purchase directly from Trezor or authorized resellers.

  • Check the seal.
  • Inspect the device.
2

Connect the Device

Use the provided USB cable to connect your Trezor device to your computer. The screen will display a welcome message and a lock icon.

3

Install Trezor Suite

Download the official **Trezor Suite** application directly from the official Trezor website. Do not use unverified third-party software.

Phase 2: Firmware & Wallet Creation

4

Update Firmware

Trezor Suite will prompt you to install or update the latest official firmware. Follow the on-screen instructions and verify the fingerprint on your device's screen.

Note: This process is vital for security.

5

Create New Wallet

Select the option to "Create New Wallet." You will be guided to set up a standard or a Shamir backup. A standard backup is recommended for beginners.

6

Write Down the Seed

Your 12- or 24-word **Recovery Seed** will be displayed on the Trezor's screen. **WRITE IT DOWN** using a pen on the provided recovery card. Double-check your transcription.

Phase 3: Finalizing Security & Login

7

Set a PIN

Choose a **strong PIN** (4-9 digits) using the number matrix displayed on your computer and the corresponding coordinates on your Trezor device. Remember this PIN!

8

Name Your Device

Give your Trezor a unique, descriptive name within the Trezor Suite. This helps you identify it easily if you own multiple devices.

9

Backup Storage

Store your handwritten Recovery Seed backup in a safe, private, and fireproof location. This paper backup is the only way to recover your funds if the device is lost or damaged.

Logging In for Transactions

  1. Open **Trezor Suite** on your computer.
  2. Connect your Trezor via USB.
  3. Input your **PIN** when prompted (using the randomized grid).
  4. You are now logged in and ready to send, receive, and manage your digital assets.
